Let’s be honest. You didn’t open a shop, a restaurant, or a venue so you could spend your nights making Instagram posts.

But you also know people check your socials before they come in. Are you open? What’s going on this week? Does this place look fun?

So here’s a routine that keeps you showing up without eating your week. About five minutes a day, a few days a week.

Monday: Plan the week (5 minutes)

Grab your phone and jot down three things happening this week. That’s it. Something like:

  • A special or new menu item
  • An event, live music, or a sale
  • Something behind the scenes

These are your three posts. No more guessing what to say.

Tuesday: Post something useful

Share a tip, a favorite product, or an answer to a question customers ask you all the time.

“Yes, we have parking out back.”

“Here’s our most-ordered sandwich.”

“Three ways to style this jacket.”

Useful posts get saved and shared. They also show you know your stuff.

Wednesday: Show your people

Snap a quick photo of your team, a regular, or a performer (with their OK). People connect with people, not logos.

Add one line about them. “This is Sam. Sam makes the best latte in town.” Done.

Thursday: Promote the weekend

This is your big one. Post what’s happening Friday and Saturday. An event, a special, live music, extended hours.

Use a clear poster or photo with the day, the time, and what’s happening. Keep it easy to read on a phone.

Friday: A quick Story

Stories are low pressure. A 10-second clip of the room filling up, the food coming out, or the band setting up. No caption needed.

It tells people, “We’re open, and it’s a good time.”

Weekend: Reply and say thanks

Spend five minutes replying to comments and messages. Thank people who tagged you. Share their Stories if they posted about you.

This is the part most businesses skip, and it’s the part people remember.

A few simple rules

  • Post to Facebook and Instagram together. Most apps let you share to both at once.
  • Don’t chase perfection. A real photo beats no photo.
  • Keep your look consistent. Same colors and fonts help people recognize you.
  • Write like you talk. Short and friendly beats polished and stiff.

What to post when you’re stuck

Some weeks, nothing feels new. That’s fine. Here are a few easy go-tos:

  • A throwback photo from your opening or a favorite night
  • A “did you know” about your product, menu, or space
  • A quick thank-you to your regulars
  • A question for your followers, like “What should our next special be?”

Questions are great because people love to answer them, and every reply helps more people see your post.

Batch it if you can

If you have 20 minutes on a Sunday, make all your posts at once and schedule them. Meta Business Suite lets you schedule Facebook and Instagram posts for free.

Then during the week, all you do is reply and post a quick Story or two.

When five minutes still feels like too much

Totally fair. Some weeks are just busy. That’s why we offer Promo Drop. You tell us what’s coming up, and every week we send back posters, animated promos for Reels, and captions ready to post. Your feed stays fresh, and you get back to running the place.

Want to see a few samples? Take a look at Promo Drop or send us a message. We’re always happy to chat.
